"I'm Going To The Jersey Shore B*tch"

Why would you want to spend your entire summer living with seven other people that you have never met before? Experience? Jersey Shore is an american reality television show on MTV. The series follows eight housemates (four male and four female) while they spend the summer at the Jersey Shore. The cast was selected through auditions. A select few were contacted through Myspace and other social medias. The cast are not allowed to use cell phones or the internet. Instead they have one house phone that they call the "duck phone". The phone alone, causes a lot of controversy. The eight of them fight daily over love affairs and household duties. The cast must work at a t-shirt shop which their landlord owns to pay for their rent. If they do not fulfill their responsibilities and are not careful of their actions they could be at risk to be taken off the show. If you chose to, you were allowed to leave the show. "Jersey Shore has cemented its status as a cultural institution, and the show's notoriety stems, in large part, from its portrayal of the vicious, alcohol-fueled behavior of its hard partying cast members (O'Shaughnessy)". This reality television show is about the new life style of eight random people living in one house for the summer, with the biggest blow-outs (hair), tannest bod, and the hottest juice heads around the block, including some bar fights too.

One producer of the show wanted to focus on the "guido" lifestyle to cause more of a competition. Another producer focused on more of "loud, young, and bold" style like a documentary. This way also helped pick out the cast. They chose these two lifestyles because it would show conflict between the cast. Showing this conflict would turn into entertainment for the audience. Having the show full of people in there mid 20's living the dream life would center the attention to younger generations such as teenagers and college students.

Situation & PaulyD
Even though Jersey Shore is more of an entertaining reality show it can show some competition between the cast members. Some competition can be physical or social for an example, the men would always have a competition on who could attain the better looking female, to see who is stronger, or to see who is more tan. Another example of competition from the show is when Mike (situation) tried getting with Sammi in the beginning of the season of Jersey Shore, but she actually got with Ronnie, which started conflict right off the bat of the beginning of the first episode of the first season, with that happening Mike felt really played so ever since that happen to him, he kept on bringing up that he always had Sammi first before Ronnie through out the rest of the seasons, which made Ronnie and Sammi hate Mike more then they already did. Having competition is natural in reality shows because certain people want to assure their dominance, not only in front of the cast but also to the audience. Despite having the competitions in order for them to prove what they have, it also gives entertainment to the audience.

Jersey shore is a reality TV show based off of living the "dream life" of a college and teenage person.
The show itself made drinking everyday and having sex with people seem like the dream life. It makes viewers want to party, go all out, and be more spontaneous. The show also shows a lot of life lessons. Even though the characters get under each others skin, they are family and it shows them having "family" dinner every Sunday. It also shows when Snooki is harassed in a bar by a man, the whole cast stuck by her side and fought for her.

Sammi Sweetheart & Ron

There is also love. Two characters fall in and out of love on the show, Ronnie and Sammi. Their relationship has caused many conflict and drama on the show. Mike (the situation) also has a big impact on the relationship and the house. Generally, the cast is a family no matter what happens. The show has made a huge impact on television. Jersey Shore showed that life is short and should be lived to the fullest. It has shown that all people face hardships and need others for support even when starring in a reality TV show. It instantly became a very popular show but also had much criticism. There are many parodies of the show and many spin offs that put a bad vibe for some viewers. After the sixth season, the show ended. Eventually, Jenny and Snooki got their own TV show called "Snooki & Jwoww" that revolved around their children and new lifestyle. Some of the other cast members tried to become famous by producing shows and products, but none of it was successful.
